DAY ONE... from Inverness to Kirkwall Through the Spectacular Far North Highlands and beyond... Our coach leaves from Inverness Bus Station (stand 1) at 2:20pm. (You can choose our earlier departure at 7:30am if preferred - please state this at time of booking). Settle back and enjoy the spectacular scenery of Scotland's far North Highlands. You'll arrive at famous John O' Groats, "the end of the road" at approximately 5:10pm. Take some time to browse round the local craft shops before boarding the passenger ferry MV Pentland Venture at 6pm. After a short 40 minute trip across the Pentland Firth a waiting coach will drive you over the famous Churchill Barriers and North to Kirkwall the capital town of the Orkney Islands. DAY TWO... A fascinating tour of mainland Orkney After breakfast meet your tour bus at 10:45am in Kirkwalls Travel Centre. Your driver will take you on a fascinating trip round mainland Orkney. Visit the historic port of Stromness, last port of call for 19th century Arctic bound whaling ships. Then on to Skara Brae, the 5000 year old Neolithic village which was hidden under sand dunes, perfectly preserved, for thousands of years and only rediscovered last century. (An entrance fee of £6.50 applies). Your tour then takes you along a narrow tongue of land between the lochs of Harray and Stenness with a visit to the mystical stone circle at Brodgar. Return to Kirkwall at 4pm. Time now to visit the shops, lookout for Orkney jewellery, woollens and finest Orkney produce. DAY THREE... Homeward Bound Your coach leaves Kirkwall's Travel Centre at 9am to meet with the 9:45am ferry back to John O' Groats. On arrival in John O' Groats board the southbound coach back to Inverness. Arrive back at 1:45pm. When making a booking if you could specify what type of hotel room you would prefer.
